Lisa still enjoys playing in the cat closet that we built for her, She climbs up to the top and calls for us to come play with her.

Here she is having her requested play time:

I’m glad that she likes the area we built for her, if she didn’t it may have just become a storage area…

Its a little scary being beamed onto a planet from space for the first time… even though it wasn’t a major mission. Just getting some readings about a device we found on sensors, turned out to be nothing of interest though.

The toys don’t belong to me, they are from a cool place that I get to do volunteer work for called “I.M.O.G.A.P.” (“interactive museum of gaming and puzzlery“).

I take pictures of their game collection – its really quite interesting what a wide variety of games they have.

Anyways, while I was photographing games I found their Star Trek toys and I even got to play with them!

Thanks to the wonder of technology I’ve been learning to crochet!

At least I can try to crochet when Kyoko ALLOWS me.

Its against the law to move a sleeping cat.

Even more thanks to the many helpful people online who uploaded tutorials and most of all to a very nice blogger who gave me permission to use her kitten pattern ! You can make your own, or buy mine from my Etsy shop

So here it is: A Crochet Tuxedo Kitten <3

Today marks the 10th birthday of my sweetie boy Mr. Nice Guy!

He woke me at 3 am to remind me of the occasion,  it isn’t like him to wake me. That is usually Kyoko and Lisa’s specialty. Of course I gave him a big hug and he purred and insisted upon being petted.
He got a special catnip carrot today and some lovely treats.

Oh boy a carrot!

wpid-20140320_141936_77414.jpg

Wait… this doesn’t taste like carrot.

This is better than carrot!

Now its a hat!

…Things kind of got a little out of hand but he’s the birthday boy, so its ok.

He dashes across the screen, looks up with whiskers posed towards the prey. With one great leap into the air he finally captures the toy mouse!

Nice Guy makes an appearance in this video as he acts as the immovable object and Kyoko acts as the unstoppable force!

Here is our “Cat Closet” that we built with a carpeted shelf on top, shelf on the side with a scratching post supporting it for them to climb up.

There is a smaller tan carpeted cat platform for them to leap up and down from these places, which they do so quickly that it amazes me.
Cat Closet

I caught both Lisa and Kyoko playing with their new toy together. Of course when I took my camera out they both froze and stared at me.

Lisa was on the top shelf playing with the string part of the toy, which made the mouse below swing around.

That enticed Kyoko to bat the little white mouse toy around!

They are SO CUTE, like they were caught and felt guilty or something… poor kitties I felt like I ruined their fun.

I really enjoy making art and what better way to share it than to offer products with my art on it?

The buttons and stickers are the most affordable and could make a pretty nice gift : )

Inventory preview

Our cat scratching post has taken a lot of abuse over the past 3 years. It was in pretty sad condition, with just shredded scraps of carpet hanging to the bones of the post.

Today I finally got inspired to repair the scratching post and give it renewed life!
Here is two of our main post frequenters, Lisa and Kyoko showing their approval of the new carpet adorning the post.

I used an old rug to replace the deceased carpeting, it took me at least 2 hours to complete the whole process of measuring, cutting out carpet and removing the old super dusty ripped carpeting, then stapling in the new carpet.

I’m so glad we didn’t have to just buy a new scratching post, we are really pretty much broke…
Plus throwing big things like this always feels like such a waste.
If I can fix old things like this it restores purpose and gives me a feeling of accomplishment. Now every time I see the scratch post I don’t have to think “Sigh, Its all torn.” Or “I WISH we could afford a new one”.

Our cats used to go flying off of this cat tree like squirrels! Ever since the GIANT rip they haven’t been frolicking off of it so carefree. I hope they will use it like they used to <3

Here are some before and after pictures:

Lisa Scratch Post EDIT
Lisa stopped my work on the scratching post about half way through. She was all like “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BED?!”

Scratch post FIN EDIT

I’ve got this adorable little robot toy kitten that meows and moves its paw and ear when it walks. It can’t really walk on the carpet though…

Nice Guy is upset that I’ve interrupted his nap and accused him of having a kitten.
Kyoko seems like he is interested in this toy for a while until it becomes too noisy.
Lisa is as patient as ever and tries to comfort the little orphaned robot kitten when nobody else will accept him as part of the kitty family.
