Innocence

Today our good friend and neighbor’s cat gave birth to her kittens.

There were 6 kittens total. All of them are beautiful and beloved of their mother. It was a great day of happiness and yet one of them didn’t make it. It was my sad duty to help prepare a coffin for the little one.

It must not have been meant to go through this life if God has come for this one so soon. It was tragic and also so peaceful seeming… I hope that this one will be in the arms of our lord and that the mother’s other kittens are blessed in health to bring happiness to all they meet.

In other news: I will still be blogging infrequently, if you aren’t already following me on Instagram my user name is meekucat I post more regularly to instagram. Thanks to everyone who reads this, I hope this disturbing news hasn’t brought anyone down, there are still 5 healthy kittens who I pray will thrive!

Here is to the end of another year, Hooray WE MADE IT!

May we all have a bright future in this coming year, to be able to forget all of our former associations which could bring upon us anxiety, fear, hate, sickness and loss of friendship.

To bring in a new year with new things in our hearts and hope to reach a new awareness of ourselves which we may not have seen in ourselves before.
It is my hope for us all to have love and unity, animals and humans alike. To realize that we are really no different than them in all of the ways that are truly important.

To end our search for objects and things which do not matter and accept what is already ours and cannot be taken away. Embrace your abilities of expression, compassion and consideration.

Peace be with you <3

Our lovely cat Lisa has been with our family for 5 months now and its been the most wonderful time for us!

I got a comment on our facebook fan page asking to see before and after photos of Lisa and BOY DID IT TAKE A LONG TIME TO SORT THROUGH PICTURES to find the first shots i took when we brought her home.

Here is Kyoko saying hello to Lisa for the very first time.

And now for the Before and After adoption photos!

Here is a front shot of Lisa sitting, it doesn’t look like too dramatic of a change.

But if you look carefully you can see a difference in the texture of her fur. It was much thinner when we first adopted her.

In this next photo you can see how she has gained more muscle mass, I think she even looks more confident nowadays.

This next shot shows how thin she was.

When we used to pet her we could clearly feel her skeleton, especially on her hips and shoulder blades. She was pretty dehydrated.

These photos are pretty clear. She was balding on her hind quarters, as you can see this is no longer the case! Thank goodness!

Image

Here is another example of how her fur used to look. It was thin on the sides around her belly. You can see the stripes that are close to her skin.

Here is how the fur on the top of her neck  looked, it was thinner as well. Now she has a full glorious mane that any kitty could be jealous of!

We are so thankful that we were able to adopt Lisa from some very nice people who found her outside their workplace at a music store.

It was a miracle that happened in such an intricate way:

We wanted to adopt another cat… but we hadn’t told anyone. Then my mom visited a music store in my area and got to see a cat who the employees said was a stray. So my mom texted me the details and said that this cat may not live very long. It was my mom’s hope that i would bring the cat food or MAYBE even adopt her. Right away i was all for going to see if we could adopt this mystery cat. When we spoke to the people who had Lisa they said that they had taken her in to the vet and she turned up to be positive for F.I.V. (Our Kyoko is positive too) So they couldn’t take her home to their cat because they were afraid of the illness.

They were astounded that we came in asking about their stray cat because they had tried calling everyone that they knew to adopt her but nobody could do it. Just as we came in to the store asking about Lisa the guy said he was just getting his coat on to leave with her to the shelter. There was so much happiness in the air when we talked about adopting Lisa, both me and the shop worker had a long history of having and adoring cats so it was certain that this would be a good home for their beloved stray that they couldn’t keep.

She is a great cat, a best friend and a brave adventurer. Thank God for cats like Lisa.

Don’t be afraid of helping someone, animal or human just because of a “disease”. Sometimes difficulties try to hide the most worth while things in life. Be brave, be bold and give give give until everyone around you can be just as happy as you are.

May everyone have peace and love in their world!

State of mind

Sometimes in life it feels like you don’t have a choice about what direction your life is going in,

even when you are trying your best and working really hard at fulfilling what is expected of you.

It can feel as though you are a passenger on a train going to “who knows where”.

If you are prone to depressing thoughts like I am, you can find yourself feeling like this quicker than you’re comfortable with.

It is important to take measures that will assure you succeed, at least on a personal level, in wherever life takes you.

Even if you can’t control the “big picture” you’ll be surprised at how much better it feels to have a secondary agenda besides whatever is causing you stress or worry. Things such as taking care of your basic needs or extending the amount of self care you do, maybe even doing volunteer work if you have the extra time.

You can’t always control  how things turn out but you can control how much effort you put into what you do.

That is why making little changes in your habits or thinking is a good way to improve your enjoyment of life.

Sometimes better planning can remedy the “I’m failing blues”.

If you want your life to turn out the way you want then you need a plan.

After all, architects don’t just guess and go- they take measurements and make plans.

Make sure that you set realistic expectations of yourself, don’t bite off more than you can chew. The more flexible you are, the more opportunities you will have.

There is usually something minor you can do that will over time become a valuable habit and give you some of the satisfaction you desire.

So don’t be left in the fog about what makes your life worth living.

Remember what makes you truly happy (hopefully money isn’t the only thing) and build upon it.

The best things in life are investments that you may have already established without even knowing how much impact they have, such as brushing your teeth and showering, eating well and resting enough, being kind to those around you… the list goes on and on.
