Thanks to the wonder of technology I’ve been learning to crochet!

At least I can try to crochet when Kyoko ALLOWS me.

Its against the law to move a sleeping cat.

Even more thanks to the many helpful people online who uploaded tutorials and most of all to a very nice blogger who gave me permission to use her kitten pattern ! You can make your own, or buy mine from my Etsy shop

I’ve listed him on Etsy for anyone interested in having this little guy for company, laughs… or the unexpected.

If kittens could really play video games… it would be cute until the sounds from games kept you up at night.

and what if the cats had a temper when they lost the game?

I wanted to have Kyoko’s kitten videos on my new channel so i did a remix and put new music over it.
I like revisiting old memories like how Nice Guy reacted when he was first harassed by kyoko, or how Kyoko played with literally EVERYTHING in sight. Including my pant leg, a bouncy ball and his old wooden brush.

He gets so wild about playing that he even bonks straight into a wall… oops. I believe all of this footage was from the first day we adopted Kyoko.

How we got Kyoko:

In June 2011 Kyoko was adopted from a local ad found on the internet for $20, we guessed that he was only about a month old.

Out of all the kitten ads we saw, he was the cutest little guy we could find.
We didn’t want to get a girl kitty, we needed another male kitty to keep our Mr. Nice Guy some company.

Why he is named Kyoko

Kyoko was named after a city in Japan called Kyoto.  It was also my name in Japanese class in highschool, it meant “today’s child”. Later we found out that Kyoko is really a girl’s name. He has a high pitched meow, so I guess that is okay!

How he related to his humans

He was always curious and watching what us people are doing, as though he will one day do what he sees us do.

He gave us long adoring looks, making direct eye contact… with such love!

Nice Guy’s reaction to little Kyoko

He didn’t really like the idea of Kyoko coming to live in HIS home…

But he learned to tolerate him, as he tolerates most other things.

From kitten to adult

I’m trying to get better at coloring my drawings, usually I have very little motivation to draw backgrounds or landscapes.

I’ve lived in an artistically black and white world for most of my life, but it isn’t depressing as some people might think. Sometimes I use too much color, which can distract from the drawing itself. So I’ll admit I’ve avoided color because of my idea of “nice colors” are usually neon or greyish tinges which other people can have an aversion to.

Anyways, here is the kitten I promised you:

Innocence

Today our good friend and neighbor’s cat gave birth to her kittens.

There were 6 kittens total. All of them are beautiful and beloved of their mother. It was a great day of happiness and yet one of them didn’t make it. It was my sad duty to help prepare a coffin for the little one.

It must not have been meant to go through this life if God has come for this one so soon. It was tragic and also so peaceful seeming… I hope that this one will be in the arms of our lord and that the mother’s other kittens are blessed in health to bring happiness to all they meet.

In other news: I will still be blogging infrequently, if you aren’t already following me on Instagram my user name is meekucat I post more regularly to instagram. Thanks to everyone who reads this, I hope this disturbing news hasn’t brought anyone down, there are still 5 healthy kittens who I pray will thrive!

I’m so proud of my boys for getting along so well… most of the time. Its going to be 3 years since we got Kyoko this June- unless I’m mistaken, numbers and time aren’t my good suit!
They play chase together, never fight over food and can lay on the same couch near one another. What more could I ask for in a couple of kitties?

An itty bitty kitty on a desk.

The weather has definitely gotten colder and the leaves are falling rapidly. Time for these kitties to migrate to warmer climates!Cat family flying southMamma kitty thinks to herself “Purrhaps the Bahamas would be nice this time of year?”

I suppose these little winged kitties of mine would hatch out of an egg and find themselves in a great big strange place that they are compelled to explore!
Winged lion cubLooking back at all these drawings I’ve made nearly every day I feel as though October is a very long month. I wonder how I’ll feel after I’m not doing inktober doodles? Maybe I’ll keep on drawing or move on to another project? Who knows, only time will tell.
