This is an interesting thing which I chose to draw, having very little experience in drawing insects.
Now… I drew this not being entirely sure of what I was drawing. To me, it looks like this is a fuzzy butterfly who is grooming its face with its front legs. BUT it also looks like it has strange horns sticking out from beside its mouth.
Here is my reference picture that I used, which I took a couple years ago when the butterfly landed conveniently in front of me and my daughter on a pear tree.
If anyone knows what kind of butterfly this is, I would enjoy hearing from you 😀
Every time I see a squirrel wandering around sniffing the ground and pausing I wonder if this is what they are thinking?
I know I would forget where I bury things, but I’m guessing survival and hunger are stronger motivators for remembering things. I just love their little fingers and bushy tails!
Lately I’ve found a couple of honey bees who have wandered into my home, only to be trapped by that invisible wall which we call a window.
Here is one of the cute little fuzzies I set free in my garden:
At least I know that there are bees in my area who are alive and pollinating, but maybe not well.
I’m sure everyone has heard something about how honey bees are becoming at risk of dying out. It has been happening for a few years now.
“Beekeepers in the United States first noticed that their bee colonies were dying off in 2006. Since then, scientists have been desperately trying to figure out what’s causing the collapse.”
It is very disturbing to think of what could happen without one of the major “plant helpers” in our lives.
My daughter and myself were doing some laundry when we found this super cute moth hanging out on the door! So of course, I had to take a video of it because its SO CUTE!! It looks like it is newly emerged because its wings aren’t that big yet.
Don’t worry we were really careful with it and put it in a safe place after filming!
To Lisa this is normal… to me it is ultra ADORABLE!
“What do you mean I’m in the way? I’m providing a valuable service by stopping that annoying clickity clacking sound from happening.”“Get my good side for the newspaper, I’m on the front page right?”“Oh no! I forgot, THIS is my good side… silly me.”(He is quite the big kitty these days, at least he keeps me warm while i can’t get my “work” done.)
Somehow I don’t think the squirrel will accept her into the family…
