We were out by the creek chasing water skippers when all of a sudden Lisa burst into tree climbing mode!

She was up in the blink of an eye, bright eyed and bushy tailed she reached the highest part of the tree before my camera powered on.

You can hear how much the local birds didn’t like this feat of strength.

Here are the water skippers, which we did not catch. They are like turbo rockets on the surface of the water.

Somehow I don’t think the squirrel will accept her into the family…cat squirrel

In this video Lisa meets another one of the neighborhood cats whom I have already met several times with Kyoko.
I’m very happy that I have enough time to be able to accompany my cats outdoors where they can be free and meet other cats like themselves. I feel like if i wasn’t there to be a mediator that some of these meetings may not go quite as peacefully.

Its great that pretty much all of the cats we have met are tolerant if not friendly to our cats.
Lisa wasn’t too comfortable with this new kitty’s scent so she decided to climb a tree instead of sticking around.

Personally, I think she was showing off her skills to impress everybody.

Our cat scratching post has taken a lot of abuse over the past 3 years. It was in pretty sad condition, with just shredded scraps of carpet hanging to the bones of the post.

Today I finally got inspired to repair the scratching post and give it renewed life!
Here is two of our main post frequenters, Lisa and Kyoko showing their approval of the new carpet adorning the post.

I used an old rug to replace the deceased carpeting, it took me at least 2 hours to complete the whole process of measuring, cutting out carpet and removing the old super dusty ripped carpeting, then stapling in the new carpet.

I’m so glad we didn’t have to just buy a new scratching post, we are really pretty much broke…
Plus throwing big things like this always feels like such a waste.
If I can fix old things like this it restores purpose and gives me a feeling of accomplishment. Now every time I see the scratch post I don’t have to think “Sigh, Its all torn.” Or “I WISH we could afford a new one”.

Our cats used to go flying off of this cat tree like squirrels! Ever since the GIANT rip they haven’t been frolicking off of it so carefree. I hope they will use it like they used to <3

Lisa stopped my work on the scratching post about half way through. She was all like “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BED?!”
