Category: My Cats

The cats have found the catnip bush in the garden and Kyoko is the first to claim it as his own with great big Kyo-hugs.

His mood is soured when Lisa comes into the picture and wants some of that fragrant catnip for herself.

We were so lucky to have the company of all three of our cats while on an expedition to the creek. We were looking for Nice Guy’s collar in the brush, its fun to imagine that the cats were helping us to look.

We were having a bit of a picnic with our cats outside, of course I brought my video camera! Then our neighbor’s cat Seven comes along to see what we are doing and we were surprised to see Nice Guy hop up and ask Seven to play with him.

Sadly, Nice Guy lost his collar outside last night when he was out being a panther in the bushes, which is why he isn’t wearing it in this video.

Here is a picture of what his lovely collar used to look like:

Since all of my cats had matching collars, I may as well show all of them!

Now that I think of it, since the collar did its job and broke away when it was caught on something I am glad. Otherwise Nice Guy could have been hurt. I will miss the jingling and adorable bowtie though!

Kyoko has a cute voice, how could I say no to him? Not to mention those eyes ūüėÄ

I went to check on my patio garden and see what my cats were up to. . . It turns out that Nice Guy must be SO SWEET that he is attracting honey bees!

I decided that some food might cheer Kyoko up, which means that Lisa got some food too. (Nice Guy was outside adventuring at the time)

I guess¬†Lisa’s bowl looked way more tasty than his so he¬†stuck his nose right under her chin and started eating.
Instead of whacking him on the head, Lisa decided to take pity on him and not only let him eat her food… but also cleaned his soaking wet head!

These are the kind of things that give¬†Lisa her nickname “Sweetsa”.

Since Kyoko likes to roll around in the dirt so much he needs a bath once in a while. He was a particularly stinky boy so he got his bath the other day.

Perhaps I will put together a compilation video of his previous baths sometime?
I also just wanted to note that I don’t just give him baths because its fun for me, every time he gets a bath he really does need it. His cuteness is just a bonus.

Its a beautiful sunshiny day, a perfect chance to catch up on some beauty sleep.

Or so Nice Guy thought… until many annoyances came his way.

Luckily, Nice Guy is a good sport and finally did end up getting his much deserved nap.

I wanted to have Kyoko’s kitten videos on my new channel so i did a remix and put new music over it.
I like revisiting old memories like how Nice Guy reacted when he was first harassed by kyoko, or how Kyoko played with literally EVERYTHING in sight. Including my pant leg, a bouncy ball and his old wooden brush.

He gets so wild about playing that he even bonks straight into a wall… oops. I believe all of this footage was from the first day we adopted Kyoko.

How we got Kyoko:

In June 2011 Kyoko was adopted from a local ad found on the internet for $20, we guessed that he was only about a month old.

Out of all the kitten ads we saw, he was the cutest little guy we could find.
We didn’t want to get a girl kitty, we needed another male kitty to keep our Mr. Nice Guy some company.

Why he is named Kyoko

Kyoko was named after a city in Japan called Kyoto. ¬†It was also my name in Japanese class in highschool, it meant “today’s child”.¬†Later we found out that Kyoko is really a¬†girl’s¬†name.¬†He has a high pitched meow, so I guess that is okay!

How he related to his humans

He was always curious and watching what us people are doing, as though he will one day do what he sees us do.

He gave us long adoring¬†looks, making direct eye contact… with such love!

Nice Guy’s reaction to little Kyoko

He¬†didn’t really like the idea of Kyoko coming to live in HIS home…

But he learned to tolerate him, as he tolerates most other things.

We were out by the creek chasing water skippers when all of a sudden Lisa burst into tree climbing mode!

She was up in the blink of an eye, bright eyed and bushy tailed she reached the highest part of the tree before my camera powered on.

You can hear how much the local birds didn’t like this feat of strength.

Here are the water skippers, which we did not catch. They are like turbo rockets on the surface of the water.
