A tall and long serpent dragon in the sky. It is stretching from the earth up into the heavens, of course since it is a dragon it leaves a path of destruction wherever it goes.Ā For this reason it can’t stay in any given place for very long. Its in love with itself and it perceives that it has ultimate power, given to boasting and high mindedness.serpent-dragon-in-the-sky1

A rabbit is out and about looking for food…

Behold: A huge carrot!

Back to the burrow with the tasty find.

Dinner is a success!

This is an interesting thing which I chose to draw, having very little experience in drawing insects.

Now… I drew this not being entirely sure of what I was drawing. To me, it looks like this is a fuzzy butterfly who is grooming its face with its front legs. BUT it also looks like it has strange horns sticking out from beside its mouth.

Here is my reference picture that I used, which I took a couple years ago when the butterfly landed conveniently in front of me and my daughter on a pear tree.

If anyone knows what kind of butterfly this is, I would enjoy hearing from you šŸ˜€

It seems like Mr. Nice Guy has been getting a lot of time in the spotlight, Time to draw Lisa and Kyoko!
lisa-on-paper (1)
Sometimes it seems like Lisa thinks she is getting recognition or praise when I talk to her about a thing that she is doing… such as sitting on my drawing paper!Ā Its hard to be upset with Lisa because she justĀ seems so innocent and playful.

Then there is our sweet boy Kyoko…

He often reminds me that his dish is empty, that he really wants me to feed him. Some of the looks he gives are so pitiful that he sometimes almost gets a second meal from another family member because they think he hasn’t been fed. But thats not all there is toĀ his character, just one of the things he enjoys. Another favorite past timeĀ is lots and lots of cuddles and nose smears!

Nice Guy likes to dash across the field like a speeding panther, WOOSH!

Then he usually disappears from sight into some bushes…

Maybe he is resting somewhere in the grass in private. PerhapsĀ taking some time to be thoughtful of the day’s events? Or even counting the petals on a dandelion?

Whatever it was that he was doing, it gets interrupted by mysterious water which falls from the sky. It has been raining a little bit more often, the summer was quite dry.

This will take some getting used to, Poor soggy kitty.

Here is another of those drawings of Mr. Nice Guy and what I suppose he does while he is outside.

Nice Guy and Seven (Our neighbor’s cat!) are watching the stars at night together. Maybe they get to see shooting stars streak across the night sky?

Today I decided to draw an Opossum, I like how the mother carries the babies around on her back.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one in person… but its a wonder how their tail can hold them up so strongly.

I made this fluffy white dragon last summer and was inspired to name it after KenĀ Sugimori, he designed and drew all of the original 151 PokĆ©mon himself!

I have always really liked how he drew pokemon and I still have many of the trading cards with his art. My favorite!

So now that you have been introduced, here are my drawings:

sugimori-dragon-profile

Sugimori, the dragon, is a mythical cloud dragon who is seen as a mist by humans. He “eats” moisture from the air through his fur and flies around humming to himself, never opening his mouth… because he doesn’t really have one.

He is clearly in a hurry, floating off to someplace.

Here he is resting on a mountain and valley, while at the same time he absorbs the mist from a nearby river. So sleepy. Of course to us humans, he would only appear to be morning fog.

NOW! For some pictures of Lisa with Sugimori šŸ˜€

Me: “What do you think of him Lisa?”

Lisa: *Screaming* “SUGIMORI!!!”

Lisa: ā€œWell, I didnā€™t mean for you to set it on meā€¦ā€

I wanted to make an attempt to draw a peacock, like the ones I saw this summer!

A funny thing happened when I got too focused on drawingĀ this picture:

peacock

Now this may seem accurate if you hadn’t just spent a ton of time on google looking at peacock pictures…

But once I finished and took another look at my drawing I realized that I drew its head too big, whoops! It was so cute that I must have looked too close and forgot to resize it to the paper as I drew. If that makes any sense at all.

Here is a real picture of a peacock I took for reference:

Anyways, I shrunk its head on my computer:

Thats better!Ā Isn’t technology wonderful?

I wanted to draw a seahorse, but just about halfway through drawing this picture I realized that it looks a lot more like a sea dragon… Whoops!

Either way I’m happy with how it turned out, despite the lack of environment to swim around in.
